Our street planters are designed to be low maintenance, filled with hardy perennials that can withstand the wind, rain and drier conditions. However, as a small team, we welcome any help from the community to keep the planters looking their best throughout the year!
See any litter? Help us by removing it to a nearby bin.
Do the plants need water? Put your finger in the soil - if it feels damp 3cm down they’re good, if not, please give them a drink of water if you can!
If you can see spent flowers looking scruffy, deadheading can be done year round.
Do any plants look dead, or are any of the planters looking empty? Let us know.
The bark topping helps keep moisture in the soil and provides habitat for beneficial insects. If a lot of soil is exposed, you can spread out the bark evenly. If more bark is needed, let us know.
Have a plant you'd like to add to your local planter? Please do so if there's space - just make sure it's hardy enough to withstand Edinburgh's changeable weather and check it's not an invasive species.
